Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 23, 2026
SugarSmart LLC ("we," "us," or "our") built the SugarSmart app to help people with diabetes manage their health. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
1. Information We Collect
Health Data — glucose readings, meals, carbohydrates, workouts, insulin logs, medications, blood pressure, weight, and water intake that you manually enter or import from Apple Health.
Account Data — your name and email address used to create your account.
Device Data — basic device information (iOS version, device model) for bug reporting and crash diagnostics only.
Advertising Identifiers — if you grant permission via the App Tracking Transparency prompt on iOS, your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) may be collected by our advertising measurement SDKs (TikTok and Facebook) solely to measure whether our ads resulted in an app install. You can withdraw this permission at any time in your iOS Settings under Privacy & Security > Tracking.
We do not sell your data. Your health data is never shared with advertisers.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and improve the SugarSmart app and its features
- To sync your data securely across your devices
- To send you alerts and notifications you configure within the app
- To generate personalized insights and recommendations based on your patterns
- To respond to your support requests
3. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database provider. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. We use row-level security so only your account can access your data.
Health data you choose to sync with Apple Health stays on your device and is governed by Apple's privacy policies.
4. Health Data
SugarSmart handles sensitive health information including glucose levels, medications, and dietary data. This information is used solely to provide the features of the app. We do not use your health data for advertising or share it with insurance companies, employers, or any third parties without your explicit consent.
SugarSmart is not a medical device and is not intended to replace professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
5. Advertising & Analytics
SugarSmart uses the following third-party SDKs to measure the performance of our advertising campaigns:
- TikTok Business SDK — measures whether TikTok ads resulted in app installs. May collect your device identifier if you grant tracking permission. TikTok Privacy Policy
- Facebook SDK — measures whether Facebook/Instagram ads resulted in app installs. May collect your device identifier if you grant tracking permission. Facebook Privacy Policy
- PostHog — anonymous product analytics to help us understand how features are used. No personally identifiable information is collected.
None of these SDKs receive your health data.
6. Subscriptions
Premium subscriptions are processed entirely through Apple's App Store. We do not store your payment information. Subscription management and refunds are handled through your Apple ID settings.
7. Data Retention & Deletion
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at support@sugarsmart.app. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
8. Children's Privacy
SugarSmart is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
